Pakistan Market Research Project for Forestry Innovation Investment Limited, British Columbia

The Forestry Innovation Investment Limited (FII) is the provincial agency of British Columbia (B.C) in Canada responsible for maintaining and expanding markets for B.C. forest products. AASA Consulting is engaged as their research partner in Pakistan to conduct a Market Research assignment to investigate the possibility of establishing the successful market for Canadian Wood Products in Pakistan.

This assignment is the follow-up study to FII’s initial investigation carried out in 2007 on the potential of the Pakistani market for the entry of Canadian wood products. The prior investigation was also carried out by AASA Consulting. Some of the key areas explored in this study are: macro picture of Pakistan’s economy, infrastructure, population, business conditions, housing market analysis, current wood products imported in Pakistan, usage of wood products, challenges affecting wood product and potential opportunities for Canadian wood product.

A mix of market intelligence, primary and secondary research approaches will be deployed for gathering the relevant data. The target stakeholders include Importers/Exporters, Wholesalers/Retailers, Construction Companies/Civil Engineers/Architect, and Workshop & Factories. Approximately 60 plus interviews were carried out spread across three major cities of Pakistan, namely Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
